About Community CIO

Community CIO – Mission Driven

Community CIO, LLC was formed by Bill Neely in 2017.  Our mission is to eliminate technology problems for nonprofit organizations.  We focus our energy in San Antonio and the surrounding communities.

A long history of expertise

Before forming Community CIO, Bill spent 24 years in industry with a large food service distributor, starting as a Software Developer and rising to Director of IT Governance.

Accomplishments

Completed dozens of custom software development projects in all areas of the company. These projects resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in expense reduction and efficiency improvement. Almost all of the systems are still in use.

Wrote and implemented IT standards to control quality and help educate new employees. Policy topics include Code Quality, High Availability, Information Security, Project Management, and Incident Management.

Conducted internal audits that identified deficiencies in IT processes.  Recommendations from these audits led to significant improvements in employee on-boarding, formal mentoring programs, development of a training library, and on-going skills development sessions.

Mentored dozens of young developers and professionals as they started their career and helped them reach their professional goals.

Bill holds a BS in Computer Science from Baylor University.
